I'm not hoping for much. Just... the most refined game in the series to date. Considering how long it's been in development for and how long it's been since the last mainline console game, hopefully that's not too much to ask.
As for characters, if our 64 polls showed me anything, it's that we totally need an ichthyologist or an entomologist. Though I'm not sure how likely that second one is if Igusa's not so good with bugs and spiders...

My expectation is the same sex marriage/ best friends to return for all future games. Personally I want a style of the ps2/gc/wii console releases since it has a high chance of being on switch.

I'd like to see more mythical marriage candidates, or the appearance of "visiting" characters from other games...even if they don't do more than just hang around once a month, it'd be cool to see them. More interaction with the kids and maybe a little more customization to the family like in ToT and AP.
As for Goddesses...I'd love to see Marina again. ❤

Unpopular opinion, but I think Dessie and Witchie are the bees knees. They're so cute, like little sisters except not, because they're much much older than you lol
I want more idol characters like Michelle and Lanna (except maybe not as extreme? as Michelle), and more can-do women like Phoebe and Flora. Some older women less like Iris (I know people love her, I'm sorry for this) and more like Eileen and Ayame (TToTT) that ...you can actually marry!!! Please...
Playing SOSFoMT, I wasn't really expecting the...artwork to be like Magical Melody in the beginning? It's more of a refined setting than MM, imo. I can actually stand to play it, unlike MM lol But I don't want to see that for SoS3. If the games can achieve the same feeling of Save the Homeland/Hero of Leaf Valley, or Tree of Tranquility/Animal Parade with HD graphics, I'll be totally pleased.

I want a MINE. Not this "hit this hole in the wall and we'll ONLY let you hit it so many times a day, and we'll ONLY unlock certain parts after so many hits because we don't want you to progress until WE want you to."
That feels like a microcosm for the things I've felt are lacking. That it's artificially stretched out with weird things to limit you to where chores start to feel like chores, and getting around is harder than it should be. All the busywork to get plus crops and the like is a bit much (I still have memories in the older games where you can get a full day's work in less than 3 minutes).
Also, I want the maps to not be sprawling as incentives to get a horse or something, but for a smidge of exploration. Secrets and little adventures. Like in the original SNES where there was this secret magic world you had to discover, and the entire magical underbelly of the community wasn't just handed to you from the start.
*sigh* Sorry, I'm sounding too critical of the SoS stuff, and that's a thing I'm working on. I enjoy them, I love the characters and the world. It's just I feel like the game part of it is too much work sometimes. Thankfully, Trio of Towns cooled it a little on the spinning the wool, dying the wool, and then turning the dyed wool into fabric. It's a bit much when I just want a casual game to take my mind off things for awhile is all I'm saying.

Oh no, dude, you're totally right. As much as I love Story of Seasons, the micromanaging aspect that has been introduced from ANB and onwards has been a huge damper to the gameplay. It's even in SOSFoMT (ex: breeding animals to get better heart levels to get better products...) and it's really too much. I would love crafting to be more streamlined, like the way they had it in Tree of Tranquility or Animal Parade. Other stuff I understand was implemented to increase the longevity of the game? but at a certain point it just gets sooooo tiring.

Yesssss SoS3 topic! I have so many thoughts about this game, but I'll talk about characters since others have mentioned it as well.
I just hope we get a more diverse cast, and especially for love interests. Everyone's been the same brand of "pretty" or "cool" for a while. I don't necessarily want us to go back to the DS era of bachelors, but c'mon. I've seen tons of people who would romance Hector in a heartbeat, and I'm gonna be bitter about Eileen and Ayame forever. I want different bodies, ages, professions, temperaments and backgrounds. I also want the art style to reflect this! I'd like it if the portraits (if the game has them) are more in the style of the first SoS game rather than Trio's.
If we can get a female doctor that is romanceable,,, I'll be happy. I'd also like to romance a bachelor who's a teacher. Oh, and my last wish: more special love interests! I always get such a kick out of pursuing the most difficult characters. I really like options such as Leia and Keira in HMDS. More! MORE! I'm gonna explode as I dream about SoS3...

Yes...YES!!! You understand me!!!! Oh my god. I would cry if they brought Cyan and Scarlet back, or more characters like Wizard! Keira was my very first wife in Bokumono so I have such feelings for her...I want more tall wives, short Kings (SOS1 was amazing for this), hurly burly gals dudes and pals. I definitely, truly, want to see more folks like Inari and Jamie (not really as special candidates either!) Just MORE!!

I still haven't gotten around to actually marrying her since the mine was such a pain in my 10-yo butt lol. SoS1 really was pretty good in the love interest department, but I def want them to be even more bold with this upcoming title. Just give us ALL OF IT. Give me an older bachelor who's not ashamed of his age! Give me a fat bachelorette whose story does not revolve around her weight. Give me a single mom/dad who's ready to start over with someone new!!! LET'S GOOOOOOOOO BOKUMONOOOOOOOOO

I want a shop like in AWL again. Grand Bazaar had one but I only played that one a little, and I preferred a more casual pop-up shop you could do whenever. It was fun watching the townspeople walk by pretending I wasn't there honestly.
To me, SoS FoMT's art style is really cute (I didn't mind Magical Melody's and it's one of my favorite games from the series), if they go for a similar style I'd want the full character customization back and tons of clothes options, glasses/hats, earrings, etc. I think I'd want a mix of ToT/AP and SoS's art style, though.

Whoa...now I’m thinking about what that would look like summer. That’d be really cute...I love the characters in both, combined...makes me wonder how the characters would’ve looked in ToT/AP if they had portraits. 🤔 This is a brilliant concept...

I did miss full character customization playing SOS FoMT, but there are tons of cute outfits from the start. Sadly no mix an match, I hope customization comes back. I really want to see more of an art style and features that where seen in AWL.

Speaking of customization made me realize what I didn't like in SoS much, what I wish will get revamped in the next installment: How you aquire clothes. Customization and clothing are something I REALLY love in games, so obviously this is an important point for me. I still love how Animal Parade did it the most - you just bought the clothing. Now there's nothing wrong with the crafting per se, but when I started the game I felt really demotivated cause you need SO many things for clothes, and so many different qualities. I understand that there needs to be some things you should work up to for a while, but it really didn't sit well with me that you had to play really long for some clothing items. I wish there was a way introduced that would maybe make it easier for people like me who really love clothing, but really don't want the crafting stuff around it. Maybe make the clothes available through crafting AND buying, even if it is super expensive the rarer the items are you'd need for it.
Aaalso, different topic: Something about the portraits in SoS (I feel like I always talk about portraits here lol) bothers me, and I kinda want some old artstyles back... like from Harvest Moon DS maybe. Though that's probably pretty unlikely. Or just something new.

I think I would like a mix of some can be crafted, bought and start out with a few. Crafted clothing but not super difficult to collect the items required. I would also like so like outfits like AWL and the super cute baby outfits. However, I wish i could mix and match them. I also liked all the diffrent ways you could interact with the kid. Lately a kid has felt like a.... object simply placed in the house. I miss being able to pick the baby/toddler up easily and go out side with it. Attachments:AWL outfit 1.jfif (10.98 KB)

Tree of Tranquility had the best child system where the child grows up with their personality and likes determined by the spouse...Each stage of growth, you would get to see them start to crawl and walk around the house, outside, and talk to you on their own. Animal Parade (took the previous away but-) added the ability to carry your child around everywhere and show them off to people. You could also determine their personality through a quiz given by the spouse... AWL you guided the child to a specific job/way of life.
If only a game in the future combined all those elements. Oh, and gave us optional twins. I love having twins in SOS1.

I loved that in AWL the child grew up too and you could give them toys. The child would actually play with the toys too. I also agree, we need a combination of all those elements and the twins!

I'm all for combining all the child systems! The family got less and less important in the games, I'd love to see that make a return. Also maybe let the children age up more again.
